Spires Brass Band is thrilled to welcome 5 time Grammy nominated bassist and Frederick native Scott Ambush as soloist for this very special concert kicking off our 2026-2027 season. While Scott’s roots are distinctly Frederick, for over 30 years he has traveled the world performing with the dynamic jazz fusion group Spyro Gyra. This will be a concert for the ages that you don’t want to miss!

Please note that this OCTOBER 17th evening event of “Hot Brass & Cool Grooves” will be at Frederick High School (from which Scott and many Spires members graduated).

Celebrate Christmas with Spires Brass Band at this wonderful, annual concert.

We are excited to again be joined by special guest, Holly Shockey. A 20 year Veteran from The United States Army Band, highlights of her career include: first female soloist in the 1996 Tattoo in Edinburgh, Scotland, viewed by millions around the world; White House for President Ford’s 90th Birthday celebration where both Senior Bush’s as well as Junior, was in attendance including most of the White House Cabinet; Soloist for Norwegian Tattoo a few years ago and a Mideast Tour performing for troops in Afghanistan and Kuwait; and Singing backup for Kenny Rogers, Tom Jones, Martina Mcbride, Will Smith, Don Mclean, Usher, Bono, Foreigner, Kathy Mattea, Wayne Newton, Kenny Loggins, Sylvia McNair and Dolly Parton.

While Spires enjoys bringing in world class soloists, we are blessed with many soloists in their own right from among our band members. This concert will feature soloists from Spires, highlighting their incredible talents.

Spires welcomes back Ken Ebo as soloist for this final regular season concert.

Serving as Sr. Lecturer of Jazz Studies at University of North Texas, trombonist and Retired United States Marine Gunnery Sgt. Ken Ebo served as the Music Placement Director for the United States Marine Music Program in the Southwestern United States and is former head of the Instrumental Division at the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach where he also served as trombone faculty and jazz improvisation instructor. He was the lead trombonist and musical director of the Marine Corps Jazz Orchestra from 2009–2021. He is a recipient of the Musician of the Year Award for the United States Marine Corps.
